ACS Searches
Today, I trained our staff on searching for information in ACS. It was a very basic training session, but it seemed to be helpful for those who attended. What are you doing to make sure that your staff are well trained in your Church Management System (ChMS)? I know that some of you have a dedicated training staff, some of you bring in trainers from your ChMS on a regular basis, and some of you just kind of let it ride. I’m interested to hear how you train staff on technology, specifically related to your ChMS. Are you intentional about it? For the ACS users out there, would you be interested in videos from our staff trainings?

I am a Training Specialist at Perimeter Church near Atlanta, Georgia. For our Shelby users, we have a Beginner Class and an Intermediate Class offered inhouse, although some users learn it on their own using the Handouts.
I spend time with new users on the day they start work. I make sure they master 2 sets of material in their first couple months, this includes basic Outlook skills. I teach Office classes and database classes for our Staff. We have used Shelby for 10 years but are converting to Microsoft CRM.
You can see a number of our handouts at http://www.teamscenter.com/public/JimL/
or you can contact me at jiml atdomain perimeter dot org.

Matt,
One of the benefits of F1 is that all of the church staff members have access to a complete library of online training modules for no extra charge; it is part of your fee that you pay that is included with F1. That way people can learn at their own pace during the times they have available. I believe that part of the “business model” of other vendors is to charge additional dollar for ongoing training - sell software cheap, depend on ongoing training to make up the difference. Good for their revenue; bad for your total cost of ownership (TCO).
One of the things that surprised me about church staffs when I got into this business is the high amount of turnover that the typical church experiences. With the online training provided with F1, a church can utilize their system more fully (system success = effective utilization) because people are better trained without an additional strain on the budget. The subscription model is more like a utility - always on and available.
Grace to you,
jhook
