Meet Marshall. He’s my friend; he’s an engineer with Acer; and he’s a real goofball. This is the guy I built the pneumatic spud gun with… yep, the same spud gun that was used to shoot glow-in-the-dark spuds through the night sky. He’s also a real hero to me.
So, I mentioned last week that I found some awesome conduit. It did in fact go from where I needed it to go, to where I needed it to go. I was in fact able to work a fish tape through it to draw the cables into the junction box. However, the junction box was not a standard size and our local electrical supply store couldn’t even order a plate that would allow me to mount my keystone wall plate on top of it.
So, Marshall and I went to work in his garage. We Dremmel’d out the middle and affixed the keystone wall plate to the metal plate with sheet metal screws. It’s a real crummy job, but we had fun doing it and it works out okay. Here are some pictures of our handiwork.
The life lesson here is that sometimes it’s more important to spend time with friends hacking out your own crappy solution to a problem than buying a beautifully packaged pre-made mass-produced wall plate.
Hey Matt,
Sure is good to see you posting regularly again! Always worth the read.
