Geocaching, my new obsession

Geocaching, my new obsession

ATT01132While the jury is still out on the “fun factor” involved with trudging through thorns and thick mesquite, I have this new obsession known as geocaching.  Most readers of my blog are familiar with geocaching.  For the rest of you, here’s a description from geocaching.com:

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online.

It’s a fitting hobby for a guy who likes to push buttons.  I’ll try not to turn my blog into a geocache travel journal, but I can’t promise you won’t hear about it again.

What about you? Are you into geocaching?  Friend me! I’m mattymattmatt. What’s the coolest cache you’ve visted? If I’m in your neck of the woods, I’d love to check it out.

(Pictured is a bridge seen from our hunt today.  I thought it was interesting that they built the new TX-36 bridge on top of the old one, without bothering to tear down the old one.)

We too love geocaching, the combination and tech and outdoors is hard to beat. While there are lots of great caches in Florida our favorite is the following, http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCXE9J

Hey a fellow newbie geocacher. We as a family started back in October – my post about it is here: http://www.churchtechy.com/2009/10/geocaching/

Let em just say welcome to the family. We use it as a means to get the children away from the TV and out and about. The competition between my two to locate the caches is fierce.
